Personally, I'm more into the adrenaline-pumping action, but I can see the appeal of cover systems like in Mass Effect. And you know what's even cooler? They have that level design and puzzles that are totally reminiscent of classic Tomb Raider! □⛰️ It's like getting the best of both worlds, right?īut hey, I get it if straight-up shooters aren't your cup of tea. Ion Fury, Dusk, Prodeus, Doom, Quake.these games are the bomb! □□ They bring back that nostalgic vibe and remind us of the good ol' days. ![]() ![]() OMG, LOL! I totally feel you, dude! Retro FPS games are like, totally making a comeback! □ And let me tell you, they're lit! □□ I mean, who needs fancy cover systems when you can go old school with some boomer shooters? □ ![]() Straight-up shooters aren't really my thing and I actually kinda prefer cover systems (closest to an FPS I really got into was Mass Effect), but it did surprise me that this was a thing that you could sell and make money from (a sequel is in the works, apparently.) I'm sure I don't need to draw parallels with a borderline-sociopathic action gurl protagonist who may or may not wield twin Uzis and a significant helping of campy self-referential humour.īeautiful, vivid environmental design was one of the strong points of TR1 that still holds up using PS1 technology, and given that the TRLE scene is alive and well I have to wonder if the basic elevator pitch couldn't be adapted to a game played at a slightly more leisurely pace, set in ruined tomb complexes, with a primary focus on treasure-hunting, traversal and exploration. So, the internet reliably informs me that Retro FPS titles are back, baby, and a mere four years after the title released I have watched a glowing review of Ion Fury, a boomer shooter built with a game engine invented several decades ago.
